Tramp Turns 11: Sharon Van Etten Unveils Anniversary Edition and Debuts “Serpent” Video

Sharon Van Etten celebrates the 11th anniversary of her 2012 album “Tramp” with an updated version, due March 24th via Jagjaguwar. The special edition features a never-before-heard track titled “This Is Too Right,” and will be available on a limited edition crimson vinyl.

Along with the album announcement, Van Etten has released a video for “Serpent” directed by Naomi Yang of Galaxie 500 and Damon & Naomi. Despite being shot in 2011, Van Etten held back the video’s release due to insecurities about her appearance. However, she now feels confident to share it with the world.

In a statement, Yang describes her creative process for the video, saying, “I was inspired by the raw anger in the song, and wanted to showcase Sharon’s rage manifesting itself in physical space.” The video was shot in an East Village loft in 2012, with Susanne Sasic running projections she designed, and Sharon performing.

Sharon Van Etten‘s most recent album, “We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong,” was released in May 2022. Check out Pitchfork’s interview “Sharon Van Etten Is an Institution Now.”
