Record Store Day’s 2023 Ambassadors: Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires Groove Stateside, The 1975 Jam UK

Mark your calendars, music lovers! Record Store Day 2023 is coming your way on April 22nd. And, the RSD ambassadors have been revealed! For the US, husband-and-wife duo Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires will be taking the mantle from Taylor Swift. In celebration of the big day, they’ll be releasing a brand new EP, “The Sound Emporium,” featuring fresh tracks from each of them.

“Record stores are like musical gathering spots,” the two shared. “They’re rooms overflowing with handpicked art and entertainment where you can find friends, take a date, even start a band.” The pair went on to say, “We all need these gathering places now more than ever. In your local record store, you find a common ground and the thrill of discovering something new. A fantastic album has the power to make even the grumpiest old man (like Jason) feel like a kid again. We’ve both worked in record stores, played our music there, and launched our careers from there. Record stores are essential for artists to connect with their audience and find their voice, and we’re beyond thrilled to help make 2023’s Record Store Day the biggest and best yet.”

Across the pond, the 1975 will be representing the UK as RSD ambassadors. The band is putting out a limited edition recording of a live performance they did with the BBC Philharmonic in 2016. “We’re all honored to be ambassadors for Record Store Day this year,” said Matty Healy. “Independent record stores are the heartbeat of the music industry and have been an integral part of our journey so far. Supporting their vital community is more important than ever.”
