The New Zealand singer and songwriter Lorde has released a new single called Solar Power on all digital platforms with it’s music video. Just days after announcing the forthcoming release of her long-awaited new album of the same name.
Lorde had been giving hints of her return to the music market for a long time. Now, the musician has released his new single “Solar Power” with its video clip on June 10 for the first time after a break since 2017. Joel Kefali is in the director’s chair of the clip, along with the musician himself. You can watch it below.
In an email to fans timed with the song’s release, she described the album’s character in terms of a beach-going girl:
There’s someone I want you to meet. Her feet are bare at all times. She’s sexy, playful, feral and free. She’s a modern girl in a headstock bikini, in touch with her past and her future, vibrating at the highest level when summer comes around. Her skin is glowing, her lovers are many.
The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalising the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors.
Lorde last released a new single called Melodrama in 2017. The musician, who has now released his new single with his video clip, will also take the stage live for the first time in three years at the 2022 Primavera Sound Festival.
