The 50-year-old rapper and actor DMX, real name Earl Simmons, is hospitalized in New York on Friday night (April 2) and his condition is serious, according to the TMZ website.

DMX‘s representatives confirmed that the rapper is currently hospitalized, but could not provide further details on his condition.

The famous rap musician DMX has been admitted to a New York hospital. He suffered a drug overdose at around 11 p.m. Friday, also triggering a heart attack. DMX, which peaked in popularity in the 90s, has long wrestled with drug problems and has been on detoxification several times. In February 2016, the rapper reportedly overdosed in a Ramada Inn parking lot, but later attributed the medical attention to an asthma attack. Police say they found no illegal substances at the scene. DMX has also claimed that he has bipolar disorder over the years.

Over the years, DMX has been nominated for three Grammys and has won two American Music Awards. His first three albums, released in 1998 and 1999, went 4x, 3x, and 5x Platinum.

Hope he has a speedy recovery!
