The London-based band Gengahr are back and better than ever, with their first new release in two years, the upbeat indie-pop anthem “A Ladder“. According to lead singer Felix Bushe, the song is a “fun, trippy little tune steeped in whimsical imagery.” He further explains that the track celebrates “the transformative power of true love, and how it can alter not just our emotions but our entire perspective on the world.”
Accompanying the single is a captivating music video, directed by Billy Howard Price. The video opens with a whimsical animated character peeking into a microscope, followed by trippy footage of the band members dressed in lab coats, performing amidst a flurry of surreal surroundings.
In addition to the new single, Gengahr will be treating fans to two intimate performances at The Waiting Room in London on March 1st and 2nd. Don’t miss your chance to see them live, tickets go on sale today!
“A Ladder” marks the band’s first single since their contribution to the American Gods season three soundtrack, “Under The Skin,” released in 2021. Their last full-length album, “Sanctuary” released in 2020, received a three-star review from NME’s Charlotte Krol, who praised the band’s experimentation, while acknowledging some uninspired moments. Regardless, “Sanctuary” was a notable effort that sets the stage for even greater things to come.
